Privacy, sources and photo credits
This is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. The fonts and the map software are served from here; the only outside requests are the map tiles, when you open a map, and the river reading.
What is collected
Browsing. Nothing. The pages are plain files. The web host keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security and capacity, and deletes them on its own schedule. There are no cookies, no analytics scripts, no advertising and no embedded content from other sites. Links marked leave for another site, which has its own policy.
Submissions. The contact form sends what you type, and your email address if you give one, to the editor. It is used to check the submission and to reply about it, kept as long as the listing it supports is on the site, and never shared or used to send anything else. If the form is not yet connected to a mail service it says so and nothing is sent.
Directory and events. Only public business information is published: a name, a public address, published hours, a public phone number where the business itself publishes one, and a link. No personal names appear in the directory. Anyone named on the civic page is named in their public office, as the Town publishes it.
The map and the river. The map on the Eat & Drink, Stay and Trails & River pages loads only when you open it. It then fetches map tiles from OpenStreetMap, whose servers see your IP address and which tiles you view, under the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. The river level on the home and Trails & River pages is fetched from the Colorado Division of Water Resources’ public streamflow service when a page loads with scripting on; that request carries your IP address to a State of Colorado server. Neither is used here to identify you, and both pages work without them.
Removal. A business or organizer can have a listing changed or removed by writing to editor@explorelyons.com.
Where the facts come from
ExploreLyons.com is an independent guide, not the Town of Lyons, Boulder County, the Chamber or any other body. Every page links to the official source it relies on, and the directory and calendar carry the date each entry was checked. The main sources are the Town of Lyons site (lyonscolorado.com), Boulder County, the Lyons Recorder, the Lyons Redstone Museum, Planet Bluegrass, the businesses' own sites and, for the town's history, Wikipedia's article and the sources it cites.
Where a fact could not be verified it is left out or marked as unverified rather than approximated. Corrections with a source are welcome through the contact page.
The photographs
All photographs are Creative Commons or public-domain works from Wikimedia Commons and Flickr, found through Openverse, used under their stated licences and resized for the web. Works under CC BY may be reused with the credit below; works under CC BY-SA under the same licence; public-domain works have no restriction. Each row links to the original.
Type is Fraunces by Undercase Type and Bricolage Grotesque by Mathieu Triay, both under the SIL Open Font License, served from this site. The strata rules, the river line and the hogback silhouette are drawn in CSS and SVG. The map uses Leaflet (BSD licence), served from this site, over OpenStreetMap data (ODbL).
